North Arm North was the location of the city’s oldest industrial building, the B.C. Gas Works building, before its collapse in 2016.  Reportedly, the site also has an underground creek running beneath it.

The 1897 Goads Fire Insurance Atlas shows an area west of the Gas Works site with bridges running across either streams or cut channels that flow into the Fraser River.
